 Spatio temporal QoS analyser

powered by
SalzburgResearch

Goals

  • Systematic QoS pattern analysis of traffic flows in order to support daily, weekly and monthly capacity planning and QoS provision in inter-domain environment
  • Automation of QoS pattern analysis

Design and components

Spatio-temporal QoS analysis integrates the functions for temporal QoS patterns, dependency analysis and spatial composition in a framework considering different network connections and flows (used for instance for study of QoS patterns in different inter-domain routes).

  • Detection of similar temporal QoS patterns of traffic of different network connections for a given period.
  • Dependencies of QoS patterns of traffic in different network connections (in case of DoS attacks useful to check resulting QoS pattern dependencies).
  • Spatial composition of a QoS value for a network connection which is composed of intermediate connections as defined by the network topology.

Examples for temporal QoS pattern analysis for a specific network connection per given time period

  • which kind of patterns of a given QoS parameter appear in a given period
  • the frequency of each QoS pattern type appearing in the period
  • multivariate QoS pattern analysis of one flow
  • pattern dependency analysis for multiple flows considering one or multiple QoS parameters
